The week of being pulled by the horse or pulling the horse I'm not sure which...
Good morning friends! Happy Saturday to you! Back when people journaled, a habit I would like to revive, one could look back and review the past week or months based on journal entries. Now a days, I believe we most often look back at our camera roll on our smartphones. As I look at the last week in review, there were days were I was riding the horse at a gallop when I had intended on a walk. Then there were other days when I was not in the saddle at all but physically pulling the horse along to the final destination. All of which had me a bit grumpy or whiny at certain points, and upon reflection I would have done well to “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I hope this Saturday morning finds you upon the saddle at a slow meandering walk in green pasture, or simply sipping a warm coffee slowly and contentedly, but either way may we feast our eyes and our hearts on what is good and true and beautiful.
Boys in Word and Deed
We took the boys to a little bookstore in Franklin, IN Thursday. It was just the perfect special day we needed to refresh and appreciate the routine again if you know what I mean. We enjoyed our time at the Wild Geese Bookshop.
Children. How funny they can be with their uninhibited words, for better or for worse. Last week we had a boy say, upon his own reflection, “Why do you think I’m looking sharp daddy?” Mind you daddy had never said he was looking sharp but boy he thought he was! And he just knew his daddy was going to think so also. May we write down (which I rarely do) and remember some of the sweet little nuggets that make us smile or lead us to happy tears. That’s the good stuff! The stuff worth journaling and remembering days, weeks and years from now.

Spring Earrings
I’m an earring girl through and through. I try necklaces but almost always end up with just earrings and a solitary bracelet. That being said, I like the earrings to make a statement and these look like works of art. Thinking on a few but haven’t made a decision on any. These are simple, yet beautiful. What kind of jewelry wearer are you?

Salmon Patties
These were delicious! I had one boy while I was preparing say I am NOT going to eat that, only to change his tune when I fed him a crusty bite while he was reading haha! I 2x’s the recipe and it was all wiped out. Served it with a yummy vinegar slaw and thinking it may be going on a once a month rotation! I did not make the Lemon Garlic Aioli just for times sake but go for it and tell me how it is!

For the Love of Architecture
When you think about the buildings of old, many have stood the test of time. Why? Because they are built over many years, with patience and care and with solid materials. Accumulation of time spent working on projects is something I am only starting to experience. The best things take SO MUCH time. To read in history about buildings taking upwards of 50-100 years to build is something I can hardly fathom. There is much to be learned from the old-slower way of doing things. Not at all that I wish to go back in time but that we not forget the WORK it takes to achieve something beautiful and to enjoy doing the work. Our garden- all the area surrounding our home, is a constant inspirational work in-progess. Photos like the above don't make me covet for something I don’t have but rather inspire me to build and create with what we do have. I hope as you plan projects for this spring and summer, they involve getting your hands dirty and taking the time to see it through. Oh what a reward and deep satisfaction that brings!
Trying my hand at some sourdough hot cross buns for Easter next weekend or some other traditional spring bake! What are you baking for Easter, anything special?
Thanks for being here on this humble little piece of the internet. Cheers to the weekend!
